About Our Commandant – Colonel D.Y.M. Ng
Colonel Danny Y.M. Ng is the founder and Commandant of the Hong Kong Army Cadets. As the organization’s most senior operational commander, Colonel Ng is responsible for overseeing the Hong Kong Army Cadets’ overall management and development, as well as ensuring a high standard of training, turnout and performance.
Colonel Ng joined the Hong Kong Military Service Corps (HKMSC), a regular British Army unit raised in Hong Kong, in 1975. He remained with the unit until 1997, when the HKMSC was honorably disbanded due to the return of Hong Kong’s sovereignty from the United Kingdom to the People’s Republic of China.
Colonel Ng has obtained a rich variety of training, command and operational experiences throughout his long service in the British Army; from special services within the Anti-Smuggling Task Force (HK), Headquarters British Forces, to Depot HKMSC’s Training Company. He is also a qualified Skill-at-Arms Instructor (UK), Infantry Range Conducting Officer (UK), All Arms Drill Advanced Instructor (UK), Nuclear, Biological & Chemical Warfare Instructor (UK), NRA Range Conducting Officer (USA), and Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor (USA). Apart from these, he has also received advanced training or qualifications in commandership, helicopter abseiling, anti-terrorism, technical rope access, method of instruction and jungle warfare.
In addition to his regular army service, Colonel Ng has had a very distinguished career as one of the best shots in the Hong Kong Army Shooting Team. Throughout the 1980s, Colonel Ng had regularly represented Hong Kong at the annual Army Operational Shooting Competition at Bisley (UK) and achieving some very outstanding results on behalf of the HKMSC and Hong Kong. Some of his greatest achievements include Regular Army Team Top 8, Regular Army Rifle Top 100, Regular Army Light Machine Gun Top 30,
Regular Army Pistol Top 30, and Regular Army Sub-Machine Gun Top 30.With Colonel Ng’s vast experience and technical expertise, the Hong Kong Army Cadets is committed to maintaining a high standard of training and enjoyment for both our adult instructors and cadet members.
